He was a former Dutch footballer and is currently the manager of the Catalan national team. He won the Ballon d'Or three times, in 1971, 1973 and 1974, which is a record jointly held with Michel Platini and Marco van Basten.

He is generally regarded as the greatest German footballer of all time and one of the greatest and most decorated footballers in the history of the game. Beckenbauer was a versatile player who started out as a midfielder but made his name as a defender. He is often credited as having invented the role of the modern sweeper and played club football for Bayern Munich and New York Cosmos.

He is a Brazilian footballer who started playing for Brazil in 1992 and was a member of the Brazil national team in three World Cups, helping the team reach the final in 1998 and win the 2002 tournament. He is also known for his trademark free kicks Carlos has dominated the position of left wingback.

Roberto Carlos played for Spanish club Real Madrid for 11 years, winning four leagues, three UEFA Champions League trophies, and two Intercontinental Cups. As of February 2010, he is also one of only eight players to have played more than 100 matches in the Champions League and was named as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers by Pelé in March 2004.

He played as a sweeper and spent his entire career with Serie A club AC Milan and is believed to be one of the greatest defenders ever to play the game.

Baresi led the Milan team and its defence for the best part of a decade; a period during which Milan's defence was considered by many observers to be one of the best back fours in the history of football and was also the captain of the Italian National Team.

Cafu is a former Brazilian footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest right-backs ever. He was given this nickname due to his speed up and down the right flank which was reminiscent of Cafuringa, a Brazilian forward from the 1970s.

Cafu was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004. He is best known for his tireless overlapping runs and played for AC Milan, Roma and Palmeiras as well as been the captain when Brazil won the World Cup in 2002.
