Professor Sandy Gordon
Sandy is a Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology at UWA. His key research topics are Coaching Psychology, Applied Sport Psychology and Positive Psychology. He has been working at the University of WA since 1987.
Personal and Professional Development
He has contributed to coach education programs in over ten different countries and also consulted with the Cricket Boards and national teams of Australia, India, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. He has facilitated strategic planning initiatives with Hampshire (England) and Western Australian Cricket Associations and similar involvement with Australian Football League (AFL and WAFL) teams and the Australian Professional Golfers Association (PGA) is ongoing. He has also coached performing artists, and clients have included opera singers, rock bands, and a contemporary dance company. He is currently the Sport Psychologist for the FFA and Perth Glory.
Sandy is originally from Scotland where he held various roles within Physical Education Teaching before working in Canada at University of Alberta.
Kenny Lowe
Kenny is currently the Head Coach at Football West’s NTC Program having previously played and coached in England. He was a previous winner of the WA State Gold Medal award and was responsible for bring Mark Lee to Perth in 1999.
Kenny was a former professional footballer with Birmingham City, Stoke City, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Barnet amongst others. Kenny was the assistant coach at Perth Glory and is regarded as one of the best coaches in Australia.
During his time coaching here he has been an integral part of the rise of talent which has progressed into the professional game. In his role with Football West since 2005 there has been over 20 players that have represented their country and who now play as a professional footballers.
The evening will take place in the fantastic John Bloomfield Lecture Theatre on campus at UWA in Crawley.
